More than 10 years ago, the spirit of Dakar within a conversation of friends was the trigger for all this to be a reality today. In 2014 the idea of organizing a tour of the tracks of the Dakar Rally came up during his passage through Portugal. The largest, longest and hardest off-road event was the motto to connect with all the Portuguese motorcycle riders who participated in the real Dakar. But when? Well, the perfect date would be the weekend of rest of the Dakar, and that’s how it was born.
In 2023 we doubled the first decade that proved to be historic for this event. The spirit remains the same, but the event has gained a charisma and success that place it as the largest event in Europe for Trail and Bigtrail motorcycles in offroad. This is an off-road event created and designed solely for this type of motorcycle.
For greater conviviality and fraternization, all participants are housed in the same hotel (Vila Galé Lagos, in Lagos – Algarve), where the Friday and Saturday dinner is also held, thus creating a spirit of “bivouac”, of people who share the same passion and enthusiasm, for motorcycles and Dakar.
In past editions of the event, we always had a large majority of national pilots, but also participations from Spain, France, Switzerland, England, the Netherlands, Romania, Russia, Ukraine, Austria, Ireland, USA, Germany and Angola. We also had several participations of former Dakar drivers, especially Marc Morales, who was third classified in 1989 in Paris – Dakar.
The definition of the routes seeks to repeat old stages or sections of the real Dakar during their passages in Portugal. 🇵🇹 All routes, whether by difficulty and/or distance, are carefully chosen taking into account the large adventure motorcycles and reviewed 2 days before the event, for any last adjustments of the route that are necessary.
⚠️ The event is exclusive to Trail, Big Trail and original Rally-Raid motorcycles. That is, MX or Enduro motorcycles with off-road preparation will not be admitted in this event. ⚠️
